A family travel agency, and the trails we love
Trails of China is run by Shanghai Donghong International Travel Agency (上海东虹国际旅行社), a licensed travel agency in Shanghai. We started it because the best hiking in China is almost invisible in English.

How we research our guides
We start from Chinese hiking communities, local operators and official notices, then write each guide ourselves. Before a guide is published, our partners on the ground confirm the key facts by phone: access, tickets, which guesthouses accept foreign guests, and how to pay. Every guide shows the date it was last verified, and our leaders report changes after each trip. Where you don't need a guide, we say so.
Our photo policy
Every photo of a real place on this site is a real photograph, credited to the person who took it and used under its licence or with their permission. We never use AI-generated or AI-altered images to show a trail, a view or a guesthouse.
